[OOM] A Dark Moon, Outshone By Bright Stars
After the dust settled, Vex found himself a dark star orbiting a veritable galaxy of light, shining souls. Dark camaraderie did not work like this. Hale and Kenzi were obviously read to suck face given half an ounce of bravery, the will-they-won'-t-they triple threat of Bo, Dyson and Lauren were all falling into a more comfortable set, and Trick...
Well, Trick was the Goddamned Blood King. Vex had saved his life, kept him from re-igniting the Great War, and given them all the time to breathe that they had now.
So of course he was alone in the back raiding the place for it's best booze. Trick was occupied, everybody else was celebrating, so he was lifting several bottles of rare liquors and making sure they made their way into his gig bag for spiriting away to...
...oh.
Yes.
Carpe Noctem probably wasn't going to be his anymore. Like it or not, but standing against the Morrigan, well, that might get sticky fast. As much as he assured Bo that things weren't going to be a problem, well-- it bought him time, didn't it? Surely, he'd find a way back into the loving arms of the Dark, the good graces of the Morrigan, and back into the possession of Carpe Noctem.
Nobody could keep Vex down for long. It was his most admirable trait, if you asked him --- he survived. He might be a roach, but roaches lived to see another day, even if they did have to scuttle to the shadows to hide out for a bit. If he was a roach, he was still a roach that would see the next morning, and the next after that. That was what he did: he survived to see the next day. Just like he did today.
A glimmer of light beyond a door caught his eyes as he was ruminating over it, and he nudged it with his foot. It creaked open, the sounds of good company and the clicking claws of wait-rats beckoned.
Vex smiled to himself, and slung his bag over one shoulder. He was in no rush to get back to sleeping on Bo's couch in her condemned house. Milliways promised nicer bedding, perhaps some company that wasn't embroiled in all this Light versus Dark drama, and certainly less Garuda and Blood Kings. He slipped through the door, humming softly to himself as he left the strange family of Light Fae in the Dal behind him.
